As BMW prepares for another, hopefully, strong year, there were some milestones achieved in 2015, the 40th year BMW has been selling in the United States. In 2015 BMW saw its highest volume of sales, more than 346,000 vehicles, the debut of the new BMW 7 Series and a milestone at its manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, S.C. – manufacturing more than 400,000 models. The Spartanburg plant is now the single largest plant for the BMW Group in the world and is the production site for the X3, X4, X5, and X6 models. In fact, the BMW X models are the fastest growing segment for BMW, representing one third of BMW’s overall 2015 sales in the U.S., the company said. Many of those X models can be found right here at BMW of Peabody, including the 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e or the new crossover 2016 BMW x535d SAV AWD.

BMW xDrive 540e

The X5 xDrive40e combines a 2.0-liter TwinTurbo inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor and high-voltage lithium-ion battery and delivers the athletic performance of their gasoline-only counterparts – but with a considerably smaller carbon footprint. The 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e is the first BMW to combine xDrive and eDrive, conquering the slickest ground with the greatest efficiency.

The 2016 BMW x535d SAV AWD is powered by a diesel-powered 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder that generates 255 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. The model can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than seven seconds, according to automotive reviewers. The model, which features a 22 gallon tank, gets a combined fuel economy rating of 28miles per gallon, 24 in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway.
