BMW is going full electric and it’s causing quite a stir, although not quite in the way that Bob Dylan went electric. The venerable automobile company has taken notice of the success of the BMW i3 series and is moving forward with a new generation of fully electric vehicles, Road and Track recently reported. The new model, dubbed the BMW iNext, will have a fully electric powertrain and is expected to include autonomous-driving technology. However, the BMW iNext model is not expected to make its debut until 2021 or 2022, which means there is plenty of time for you to drop by BMW of Peabody and take a look at some of the electric cars and hybrids on our lot, including the pugnacious 2016 BMW i3 Hatchback Four-Door with Range Extender. This model is a perfect choice for drivers making short to medium trips in and around an urban area. The 2016 BMW i3 is powered by a combination electric battery with a gasoline-powered range extender that allows the model to travel approximately 150 miles before needing to be recharged and refueled.

If you’re looking for something more along the lines of the sedan, then you’ll definitely want to check out the 2016 BMW 330e Four-Door Sedan Plug-in Hybrid RWD. The model can function as both an electric car as well as a gasoline-electric hybrid. The 2016 BMW 330e is powered by a combination engine that achieves a total output of 248 horsepower. The engine is comprised of a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine and an electric motor driven by a 7.6 kilowatt air-cooled lithium-ion battery. One neat feature is the battery is well hidden in the trunk of the model.

So, while you wait for the BMW iNext to be available in showrooms like ours, make sure you come to BMW of Peabody and check out the current hybrid-electric models!
