There are plenty of mighty yet small luxury crossovers out there, but few compare to the power and value of the new 2020 BMW X1. Yet, our dealers at BMW of Peabody are true believers in the value of fair comparison, and we’d be making a huge oversight if we did not compare our BMW crossover against the new Audi Q3.

When it comes to luxury power, both BMW and Audi pull out all the stops in their vehicles, particularly in their rivaling flagship crossovers. Both models utilize a single powertrain build and make use of their equally small size to provide some pretty remarkable performance on the pavement.

On the one hand, you have the Audi Q3, which is available in the Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims. Each trim model is powered by a 228-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a pretty sticky all-wheel-drivetrain. That said, the turbocharged engine leaves much to be desired and while the Audi Q3 does come with a decent array of onboard tech, you’ll have to pay extra to get it.

The 2020 BMW X1, on the other hand, streamlines your options to either the sDrive28i or the xDrive28i trims. In both models, you’ll find a nimble 228-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is partnered with an eight-speed automatic transmission. While you won’t get all-wheel-drive as standard, the basic front-wheel drivetrain is still a better performer than what Audi brings to the table. Saddle that with a sprawling 8.8-inch iDrive infotainment system and a standard array of safety features, and you have a crossover that blows the competition out of the water.
