These all-electric cars will boast unique branding that will demonstrate their affiliation with the Gloucester police department’s Kops-N-Kids program. This program is designed to enable police officers to spend time with kids at their schools.
One of the new BMW automobiles will be used by the police department’s school resource officer who currently drives a cruiser that’s 10 years-old. Both of the new BMW i3 models will help the Gloucester police department to have a fleet of vehicles that’s more energy-efficient overall.
“Electric vehicles are the way of the future, and we are excited to be able to add two to our fleet,” Interim Chief McCarthy said. “These vehicles will be a valuable resource for us and we are grateful to Lyon-Waugh Auto Group and BMW of Peabody for their generosity.”
